المفهوم

الجمال في التقليد الجمالي العربي ليس بصريًا فحسب — بل جودة من الدقة والاكتمال والتوافق المثالي بين الشكل والوظيفة.

Beauty (Jamal) in the Arabic aesthetic tradition is not merely visual — it is a quality of precision, completeness, and perfect correspondence between form and function. The most beautiful thing in Palestinian embroidery is always the most precisely executed thing.

النمط

رسم خطي لنمط Circular Staircase

The Circular Staircase spirals from the center outward in four arms — each step earned, each level completed before the next begins. Beauty in Palestinian Tatreez is always this: a form that grows from its own logic, that cannot be rushed, that reveals itself only to the embroiderer who has followed every step of its construction. The staircase that rises from the center is also a map of how beauty is built: not assembled from outside elements but grown from a single point of origin.

كيفية التلوين

هذا القسم متاح باللغة الإنجليزية فقط.

  1. Start at the center point

The single origin point — one filled dot.

  2. Work each spiral arm separately

Take one arm at a time — fill each step square fully before moving to the next.

  3. Use one color per arm

Four arms, four colors or four shades — the rotation creates the visual rhythm.

  4. Add the connecting arc lines

The curved outer edges of each step — use a slightly darker shade.

  5. Fill the outer boundary ring

    The final containing circle.

الدلالة الثقافية

The Circular Staircase (al-Darj al-Da'iri) is a distinctively Palestinian interpretation of the universal staircase motif — transformed from a linear form into a radial expansion from the center. This transformation from linear to radial is characteristic of Palestinian geometric intelligence: the same underlying principle (step-by-step construction) expressed in a fundamentally different spatial relationship.

The staircase in Palestinian village architecture was one of the most symbolically charged domestic elements. The stone steps of the village house, worn smooth by generations of use, marked the threshold between the public world of the courtyard and the private world of the family rooms. The staircase encoded hierarchy — who was invited up, who waited below — and intimacy — the stone that your grandmother's feet wore smooth.

The four-armed radial structure of the Palestinian Circular Staircase creates a visual rhythm that the eye follows involuntarily — a movement that feels both inevitable and surprising, that cannot be predicted from any single vantage point. Beauty that is structurally embedded in the pattern itself does not require embellishment; the structure is the beauty.
