المفهوم

الانفتاح هو جودة مواجهة العالم بلا درع. عكا هي المدينة الفلسطينية التي تجسّد الانفتاح: مدينة ميناء منفتحة على البحر الأبيض المتوسط.

Openness (Infitah) is the quality of facing the world without armor — not naivety, but the courage to remain permeable to new experience while maintaining a clear center. Acre is the Palestinian city that most embodies Infitah: a port city open to the Mediterranean, absorbing influences from across the known world while remaining distinctly itself.

النمط

رسم خطي لنمط Windows of Acre

Acre's Windows are frames for light — each square divided into four equal openings, each opening inviting the Mediterranean world in. Infitah is this structural welcome: not the accidental opening but the deliberately framed one, the window that says 'I have made a place for what comes from outside.' Acre has been a port city for four thousand years — a city that survived by knowing how to receive the world without losing itself.

الدلالة الثقافية

Acre (Akka) is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world — its archaeological record extends back over four thousand years, and its name appears in Egyptian records from the 18th century BCE. Its position as the primary Mediterranean port of the Levantine coast made it the most cosmopolitan city in historic Palestine, a place where Phoenician, Greek, Crusader, Mamluk, Ottoman, and Palestinian cultures left visible architectural traces.

The Ottoman old city of Acre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, famous for its well-preserved Crusader-era underground halls, its Ottoman-period caravanserais, its massive sea walls, and above all its distinctive domestic architecture — including the carved stone windows that gave Shababeek Akka its name. The windows filter Mediterranean light into cool stone interiors with an effect specific to Acre's geography and building tradition.

In 1948, Acre's Palestinian population was expelled in the last days of the war, and the city was repopulated. The women who carried Acre's embroidery tradition with them into exile preserved a distinctive geometric vocabulary — the window motifs, the sea-related patterns, the dense architectural forms — that reflects the specific visual culture of a port city open to the Mediterranean world.
