コンセプト

Ascension (Irtiqaa) is the movement from what is toward what is possible — not an escape from the present but an elevation of it. The Arabic root raqa means to rise, to ascend, but also to be refined, to become more completely oneself.

الارتقاء هو الحركة من الموجود نحو الممكن — ليس هروبًا من الحاضر بل ارتفاعًا به. الجذر رقي يعني الارتفاع والتهذيب.

模様について

Full Fanの線画

The Full Fan opens a complete circle of equal arms — sixteen directions of rise, sixteen arcs of ascent. Irtiqaa that is complete does not choose a single direction of elevation; it rises toward every available light. The coastal Palestinian tradition — Jaffa and Gaza — produced the most curvilinear patterns in all of Tatreez, because the sea teaches a different geometry: not the right angle of the mountain grid but the curve of the horizon, the arc of the wave.

The Full Fan (al-Marwaha al-Da'iriyya) is documented from the Jaffa and Gaza coastal regions, where the sea-influenced visual tradition produced the most curvilinear patterns in all of Palestinian Tatreez. Unlike the angular inland traditions of the mountain villages, the coastal tradition favored flowing forms — forms that reflect the curved horizon of the Mediterranean and the arc of the wave.

The physical marwaha (fan) was a domestic tool used daily by Palestinian women across the Levant — hand-woven palm-fiber fans for summer cooling and for stoking cooking fires in winter. The fan-making tradition was itself a craft, with distinctive regional forms. The embroidered fan is the permanent record of the temporary tool — the object that cooled and warmed, preserved in thread.

The Full Fan's 16 radial arms with their scalloped edge create a visual completeness that the half-fan cannot achieve. The full circle — unlike the half — has no up and no down, no direction it does not face. In the Palestinian coastal tradition, this completeness had practical meaning: the sea comes from all directions, and the sailor or fisher who cannot read all 16 points of the compass is not safe.
