المفهوم

الإخلاص هو نقاء النية — فعل شيء لذاته، دون دوافع مختلطة. أربع نخلات تمتد في أربعة اتجاهات، كل منها تحظى بنفس الرعاية المتطابقة.

Devotion (Ikhlas) is purity of intention — doing something for its own sake, without mixed motive. Four palms extending in four directions, each given identical care — this is Ikhlas as symmetrical devotion: the same care given to all four directions simultaneously.

النمط

رسم خطي لنمط Center Palms

Four palms extend from a central square — one in each direction, each crowned with a fan of fronds. Ikhlas is this equal extension: the same care given to all four directions simultaneously, the same devotion expressed in every arm, the center holding all four in perfect equilibrium. Palestinian devotion is not directed toward a single beloved; it holds the land, the community, the tradition, and the divine in simultaneous equal attention.

الدلالة الثقافية

The Center Palms (Nakhla al-Markaz) is the signature motif of the Ramallah regional tradition. Ramallah (Ram Allah, Height of God) is situated in the central Palestinian highlands at approximately 900 meters elevation, and its elevated position has given the city both a physical and a symbolic height in Palestinian culture. The palm tree — tall, reaching, rooted — was an emblem of this elevation.

The date palm (nakhl) has been cultivated in Palestine for thousands of years — planted in the Jordan Valley, the coastal plain, and the warmer interior valleys. Palestinian agricultural tradition holds that the palm is the most generous of trees: its fruit, shade, trunk wood, fiber, and pollen are all useful; nothing is wasted. The palm that gives everything without reservation is the perfect emblem of Ikhlas.

The Ramallah embroidery tradition is documented in one of the largest collections of Palestinian textiles in the world — the collection assembled by the Palestinian Costume Archive and others contains hundreds of Ramallah thobes from the 19th and 20th centuries. This collection preserves the full range of Ramallah motifs, including the Center Palms, across multiple generations of embroiderers.
