المفهوم

الذكاء يحمل معنى الحدة — العقل السريع والعين المدركة. في القرآن، الهدهد هو رسول سليمان — الطائر الذي رأى بلاط مللكة سبأ قبل أن يراه سليمان.

Intelligence (Dhaka) carries the meaning of sharpness — the quick mind, the perceptive eye. In the Quran, the hoopoe is Solomon's messenger — the bird that saw the Queen of Sheba's court before Solomon did, that brought information the king could not obtain from his fixed position.

النمط

رسم خطي لنمط Solomon's Hoopoe

Four hoopoes face each other at the center — their crowned crests nearly touching, each one having arrived from a different direction with what it has seen. Dhaka in the Quranic tradition belongs to the hudhud: the bird that saw the Queen of Sheba's court before Solomon did, that carried information across distances, that knew what could not be known from a single fixed position. Intelligence requires movement and multiple perspectives. Four hoopoes at the center have seen four horizons.

الدلالة الثقافية

The Hoopoe (Hudhud Sulayman) holds a unique position in Palestinian and broader Islamic cultural tradition. The hudhud appears in Surah al-Naml (The Ant) in the Quran as the messenger bird of King Solomon — the creature that could fly between kingdoms, that recognized the court of the Queen of Sheba before Solomon did, that brought information the king himself could not obtain from his fixed position. The hoopoe is the bird of far-seeing intelligence.

The Palestinian hoopoe (Upupa epops) is a common bird in Palestinian gardens and agricultural land — its distinctive call (hoo-hoo-hoo), its remarkable crest, its bold black-and-white wing bars make it immediately recognizable. Palestinian children grew up watching hoopoes probe the ground for insects with their long curved beaks: the patient, methodical intelligence of a creature that finds what is hidden.

The Four Hoopoes composition places four of these birds at the center, their crowned crests nearly touching — four intelligence sources, from four directions, sharing what they have separately seen. This is the Palestinian understanding of wisdom as collective: no single observer can see all four horizons. Intelligence is the sum of multiple perspectives brought to a shared center.
